My daughter in law has a serious tax problem emanating from 2008 whereas she did not pay the tax nor notify the writer, her tax preparer, of not receiving any correspondence from Berkheimer. Althought the latter statement does not seem to be the case as explained by Berkheimer in the person of Cindy Starr, I would be remiss if I did not notify Berkheimer of the excellent service afforded me by Cindy Starr. Ms. Starr was understanding, compassionate, competent, courteous and explained each detail of the tax situation my daughter in-law had amassed. With Ms. Starr’s assistance I was able to clear up the tax problem for 2008 and develop the plan for 2009. It is comforting to know that I have someone to call when situations such as the aforementioned materialize. Thank you.

I had over paid my 2008 local tax return and I realized that just recently when reviewing my documents for 2009 returns. I sent a query email to the representatives and I got a reply within 2 days that it will be forwarded to the refund department.

The refund folks were pretty quick in sending me the refund for the tax I overpaid during the last tax year.

My experiences with Berkheimer have always been pleasant. I don’t deal directly with you that often so I can only imagine how difficult your job must be. However, you do collect taxes, so people must dislike you overall. I assume this because anyone I talk to does nothing but groan whenever “Berkheimer” is mentioned in conversation.
I do not have the same sentiment. In the past, every time I have talked with someone, they have ALWAYS been pleasant and helpful. This trend continues as is evident by my dealings with you.
When calling Berkheimer the wait times are always reasonable. I never had to wait long to talk to an actual person. When I do talk to a person, they deal with me in a human way –- they don’t “read from a script” treating me like a number – they treat me like someone from the community. (And this seems to be true for all I have dealt with there in the near and distant past.) When I was not able to talk to the person I was directed to speak with, I was told they would call back. In each instance in dealing with you Denise, I received a call back in less than five minutes.
I can only imagine the number of irate people you must deal with. That being the case, I am pleased to express my satisfaction over the fact that, as I MYSELF became irate and irrational, you maintained your cool in dealing with me. You continued to state the facts regarding my account, and did so in a warm and human way –not in a way most do where they just coldly repeat their “lines”. Most importantly, you spent a considerable amount of time trying to contact someone in order to get information on when/where I could settle my account. It has been years since anyone actually tried on my behalf to assist me when;
1.) I was in the wrong in my actions regarding my taxes
2.) I was irate and unreasonable with my recollection of my account situation in the past month
Thank you again for your assistance as it is greatly appreciated. (And I hope never to talk to you again!!! LOL!)

As a former City of Philadelphia resident, I have to say that I am very impressed with the handling of local taxes by Berkheimer. No one likes to pay taxes, but whenever I have had an issue I have been able to reach a live person almost immediately (or I’ve left a message and gotten a prompt return call).

Today I had an issue I promised to resolve for my daughter. Cindy Starr at Berkheimer handled the matter quickly, efficiently and in a friendly manner.

I wish more municipalities (and even the Federal Government) would consider private tax administration firms such as Berkheimer.
